We now know that the Android 2.3.3 firmware update is expected to hit the new Sony Ericsson Xperia range before the end of the month. However, what remains a mystery is the exact changelog. What Mobile suggests that this update, dubbed ‘MR1’ will add the Facebook inside Xperia functionality as expected. Apart from that it will also bring security fixes and “wallpaper/background changes”. This is expected to be delivered OTA and via SEUS, with unbranded handsets getting it first.
Following this, there will be another update to Android 2.3.4 that amongst other things will include a Wi-Fi fix which leaves handsets ‘connected’ to a wireless router even once it has left range. This then stops any data transfer in the handset without rebooting the phone or toggling Wi-Fi on/off. There’s no firm date when the v2.3.4 update is expected to hit.
